Pastor Tim’s March Message

Happy (almost) Spring! Spring will arrive, thankfully, on the 22nd of this month, bringing to a close an especially cold winter season here in North Carolina. Ironically, “Lent” is an old English word meaning “spring” or “springtime,” and this is the church season we have just entered. On Wednesdays during this season (though not during Holy Week), we will have a Taizé worship service – a service of prayer, scripture, silence, and singing -- in the sanctuary at 6:30 pm. Therefore, evening Bible study will be at 7 pm. May your Lenten season be one of repentance, growth, renewal, and joy.

I am beyond excited to announce that, because of a very generous financial gift from Dr. Fran Holler Twisdale, our church will be receiving a brand-new organ for our sanctuary! Combined with our brand-new piano, we are entering a new era in our music program here, and we should be secure for the foreseeable future. We rejoice that Regan will be able to play the highest quality instruments here, and again we thank Fran Twisdale from the bottom of our collective hearts. God is so good! Stay tuned for further details of the new organ’s arrival.

We also rejoice at the upcoming baptism of Ezra Woods, Jason and Katherine’s son and Owen’s younger brother – as well as his cousin Leo Woods, who lives out of town. That will be on Sunday, March 22nd. What a day that will be!

Holy Week begins at the end of this month. During that week, we recall and commemorate the events of the last week of Jesus’s life. We invite you to attend and participate in these very moving worship services: Palm Sunday/Passion Sunday on March 29th  (at 9 am Crossing and 11 am Traditional),

Maundy Thursday  on April 2nd at 12 pm and 7 pm, Good Friday on April 4th  at 12 pm and 7 pm, and concluding with Easter Sunday on April 5th  (at 9 am Crossing and 11 am Traditional).

Have a most blessed Lenten springtime of your soul and spirit.

 Sharing the Love of Christ,
Pastor Tim
