Senior Ministry

The twofold mission of the Senior Ministry Team (SMT):

• To establish and/or strengthen relationships among senior members of St Philip
• To offer support to senior members as important and valued members of our Christian family

The SMT meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 9:30am in the Music Room. This generally precedes the Pastor’s Bible Study class and offers our members the convenience of making one trip to participate in both activities.

This team oversees a variety of activities that are designed to further our stated mission as outlined below:
• The quilters led by Barbara Burdette meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month and make quilts that are donated to Lutheran World Relief and delivered to needy people around the world.
• A breakfast fellowship group is organized by Frank Bouknight on the 3rd Tuesday morning of each month at a designated restaurant to share breakfast.
• A book club led by Kathryn Edwards meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 10am to discuss a selected book.
• Saints and Sinners is overseen by Carole Mason and meets for lunch and a program on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 11:30 in Luther Hall. Frank arranges for the programs.
• A ladies’ lunch meets at a variety of restaurants on the first Thursday of each month. Debbie Voress coordinates and communicates about these lunches.

While these activities are focused on seniors, people of any age are always welcome.
