Friends in Christ, we want to share an urgent need that’s come to us this week from all three of our primary ministry partners — Families Together, North Raleigh Ministries, and Refugee Hope Partners.

Because of the ongoing government shutdown, SNAP food benefits have been paused, leaving many families in Wake County suddenly without the help they depend on to buy groceries. Our partners are already seeing a large surge in need in the last 36 hours — even greater than during the height of COVID.

The reality is that people in our community – parents, children, and other adults (most of whom work full-time) – are going hungry. Even if government funds are released tomorrow (Monday, Nov. 3), we are hearing that it will take an estimated 7-10 days for funds to make their way to those in need.

For Wake County children and their families, the loss of this essential resource could mean the difference between having a roof over their heads or nutritious food in their stomachs.

As followers of Jesus, we’re called to love our neighbors and step up when people are struggling. This is one of those times.

You can help by donating non-perishable food items, grocery gift cards, or making a financial donation to our partners who are working directly on the front lines with families in crisis.

Let’s join together to make sure no one in our community goes hungry.
