Why Family Ministry Matters
This fall, we are excited to relaunch our Family Ministry Model, designed to engage parents and children (ages 0 through grade 5) in a fresh and meaningful way. Our vision is to create a space where families can gather, connect, and grow together—building faith and community side by side.
What makes this ministry unique is its family-centered approach. Parents play the most important role in shaping their children’s faith, yet too often we feel unequipped or isolated in the journey. Family Ministry addresses this by giving parents tools, encouragement, and opportunities to engage in their own faith alongside their children.
Here’s how it works:
🎧 Before each gathering, adults are invited to listen to a podcast or watch a short video on topics related to faith, parenting, or life. When we come together, we dive into genuine, rich conversations—where questions, doubts, concerns, joys, and celebrations are all welcome. This authentic time of sharing creates space for real connections, support, and encouragement.
👶 For the kids, we create an environment that embraces real life. Parenting can be messy, and kids aren’t always predictable. Our gatherings aren’t sterile or rigid—they’re safe places for kids to be kids. If there’s a breakdown, a big feeling, or even a feral moment, that’s okay. No judgment, just grace, patience, and understanding.
But Family Ministry is more than just discussion and activities—it’s about community. Research shows that parents today face record levels of loneliness and burnout. By bringing families together, this ministry builds a supportive network where parents encourage each other, children learn from multiple caring adults, and everyone experiences the richness of belonging to something bigger than themselves.
We also take the role of healthy child development seriously. Play, resilience, and confidence-building are woven into our gatherings, with intentional activities that support both spiritual and emotional growth.
Practically, Family Ministry meets twice a month on Sunday afternoons/evenings from 3:30-5:30 pm. Each session concludes with a simple dinner we share together as a community—a chance to continue conversations, build friendships, and enjoy life around the table.
At its heart, Family Ministry is more than a program. It’s a safe, welcoming “third place” outside of home and Sunday worship where families can deepen their faith, form lasting relationships, and be renewed for the challenges of daily life.
