YouthQuake 2025: Walking Together In Faith

On Saturday, October 4, our 3rd–5th graders joined over 100 other kids and leaders from across North Carolina for the Synod-wide event YouthQuake, hosted at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salisbury.

The day was filled with laughter, energy, and joy as kids enjoyed games, songs, Bible studies, crafts, worship, and of course—a pizza lunch. More than just a fun day, YouthQuake helped our young people discover what it means to be part of the Synod. The word Synod means “walking together,” and that truth came alive in meaningful ways.

Our kids were reminded that while it may sometimes feel like there aren’t many children their age who believe similar things to them in their schools or even in their own congregations, they are actually part of a much larger community. Across the state—and even the country—there are many kids growing in faith right alongside them. They also learned that “walking together” is part of what it means to follow Jesus: to walk with those who may need help, encouragement, or friendship.

Most importantly, YouthQuake reminded us that faith isn’t something we practice alone. It’s meant to be shared in community, where we can lift each other up—especially when the world around us feels heavy.

Why This Matters

Events like YouthQuake give our children the gift of belonging. They see that they are not alone, that their faith connects them to a larger family of believers, and that walking together is central to being a disciple of Jesus. These experiences plant seeds of faith and community that help sustain them for years to come.
