YouthQuake: We Are the Church!

This past Saturday, our 3rd–5th graders joined children from across the NC Synod for YouthQuake, a special day of faith, fellowship, and fun at First Lutheran Church in Greensboro.

Together, we explored the question, “What does it mean to be church?” Through Bible study, crafts, games, worship, and even a pizza lunch, the kids learned that the church is more than a building or a committee. The church is the people; God’s people, gathered together in faith and community.

One of the highlights of the day came during our closing worship service, when all of the children had the opportunity to help lead different parts of worship. Ours helped lead an interactive message time with various prayer stations that highlighted how we are all the church together. It was wonderful to see them sharing their gifts, participating with confidence, and discovering that they have an important role to play in the life of the church.

We’re grateful for a fun-filled day of learning, laughter, and growing together—and especially for the reminder that we are the church!
