Back to School Milestone Blessing: Celebrating a New Year of Learning and Growing

A new school year brings a lot of new beginnings: new classrooms, new teachers, new routines, new friendships, and plenty of opportunities to learn and grow.

As we prepare to begin another school year, St. Philip invites all children, youth, parents, and teachers to join us for a special Back to School Milestone Blessing on Sunday, August 23, during either worship service.

Whether you're heading off to kindergarten, starting middle school, entering your final year of high school, beginning college, returning to the classroom as a teacher, or sending a child or grandchild into a new school year, this blessing is for you.

We know that the beginning of a school year can bring excitement and anticipation—but it can also bring uncertainty, nervousness, and a whole lot of questions about what the year ahead will hold.

That's why we pause as a community to recognize this transition and surround our students, families, and teachers with prayer and blessing.

During worship, we will celebrate the people who are beginning this new season and ask God's blessing upon the days of learning, growing, discovering, and becoming that lie ahead.

And you don't need to bring anything special for the blessing.

Just bring yourselves.

Come as you are, and join your St. Philip family as we celebrate the beginning of a new school year and remind one another that none of us enters a new season alone.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, August 23, during either worship service as we bless the year ahead!
